Disclaimer: In this blog we are going to compare and contrast different 21st Century Genres. In here we are gonna compare and contrast the Doodle Fiction, Manga, and Graphic Novel.

21st Century Literary Genres

    There are a lot of popular literary genres: Illustrated Novels, Digi-Fiction, Graphic Novels, Manga, Doodle Fiction, Text-Talk Novels, Chick Lit, Flash Fiction, Six-Word Flash Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction, Science Fiction, Blog, and Hyper-Poetry.
    As society and technology changes and advances, so does literacy. All the featured literary genres above were made possible because literature is paving its way to embrace and learn to go with the flow with the inevitable change of this society. Literature cannot just stop because of this big change. Literature cannot just settle to where it started, but this must change over time and start to cope up to what is trend to be able to reach the target readers.

Doodle Fiction

    Literary presentation where the author incorporates doodle writing, drawings, and handwritten graphics in place of the traditional font.
    Drawing enhances the story, and what make this genre unique, it is often added humorous content that made the readers be attracted to it. The drawings are very essential to this because once it is omitted, it will be no longer have a humorous content, because the drawings shows it all.

Manga

    "Manga" is a Japanese word which means comics. Manga has totally influenced the 21st Century readers, not just because of how they present it or how it is made, but because of its distinctive artistic and storytelling styles. 
    There are 5 different types of Manga; Shonen (Boy's Manga), Shojo (Girl's Manga), Seinen (Men's Manga), Josei (Women's Manga), and Kodomo (Children's Manga).

    The following are example literature which is classified as Manga:

    One interesting fact about Manga is that it was originally published in Japan. However, American writers had come to have interest to the Manga that the Japan produces which lead them to publish their own style of Manga which is named as Ameri-Manga or American Lit. Manga.


Graphic Novel

    Graphic Novels are narrative stories which are conveyed in comic book formats. This term is employed in broadly manner, encompassing non-fiction works and thematically linked short stories across a number of genres. Graphic Novels are meticulous especially to the graphical elements that they are using. Having to miss one important graphical element would not make the graphic novel complete.

In Conclusion...

    Based on descriptions given above, Doodle Fiction, Manga, and Graphic Novel are three different genres of 21st Century Literature. However, despite of having different names and aspects, these three are characterized as the same in such way that all these are conveying their concepts through illustrations or drawings. 
    In terms of their differences and uniqueness, Doodle Fiction has humorous element in which drive the story line more interesting. Manga has this distinctive artistic and storytelling styles which catches the attention of their readers especially the teenagers. Graphic Novels has graphical elements such as panels, gutter, word/speech balloons, narrations, etc., these graphical elements completes the graphic novel.
